About BIOAID:
BIOAID (AI-Accelerated Industrial Biocatalysis) is a 4-year doctoral training programme led by QUB in partnership with:
University of Manchester
University of Edinburgh
University of Bristol
BIOAID aims to train the next generation of researchers at the interface of artificial intelligence, enzyme engineering, and industrial biotechnology.
Research Themes:
BIOAID projects span three major themes:
AI-powered enzyme discovery(e.g. metagenomic mining and functional prediction)
AI-guided enzyme design(e.g. ML-accelerated enzyme customisation)
AI-enhanced enzyme applications(e.g. scalable biocatalysis for sustainable manufacturing)
BIOAID PhD Scholarship Coverage:
Successful candidates will receive:
Full international tuition fees for 4 years
Annual stipend (UKRI rate): £20,780 per year
Research Training Support Grant (RTSG)
A minimum 3-month industrial placement
